BIM Execution Planning in the Rhineland

Why permit drawings are not enough and how BIM can improve technical coordination.

BIM Execution Planning in the Rhineland

Permit planning is not execution planning

Permit drawings show whether and in what form a proposal can be assessed under public law. Construction usually requires significantly more information: dimensions, assemblies, interfaces, details, material decisions, openings, coordination with structure and building services, and clearly controlled drawing revisions.

Reliable execution planning reduces interpretation on site. It does not replace contractors' workshop and installation drawings or the professional responsibility of structural, MEP and other specialist designers.

How BIM can support coordination

For suitable projects, a BIM model can bring architecture, structure and technical systems together spatially. This can reveal conflicts earlier, keep revisions more consistent and provide a coordinated basis for drawings, quantities and visualizations.

clearer coordination between design participants;

earlier detection of spatial conflicts;

traceable revisions and model checks;

a stronger basis for details, quantities and visual communication.

BIM is not an automatic guarantee of quality. Model detail, information requirements, checking rules and responsibilities must be defined before work starts.

From Leverkusen for projects across the Rhineland

Benatrix provides execution planning and BIM coordination from Leverkusen. Depending on the scope, project meetings and site support may also be available in Cologne, Bergisch Gladbach, Leichlingen, Burscheid, Langenfeld, Monheim am Rhein, Solingen and Düsseldorf.

Before work starts, the current design status, required file formats, responsibilities, interfaces and checking process are agreed. A clear brief is especially important when permit drawings or third-party models are to be developed further.

More: Execution planning with BIM · Request services
